Hello Alex, this was a great read.
By looking at how things are evolving, I think you have nothing to worry about. In fact, I think being a generalist would be of more value than specializing in one particular thing.
But I think being a generalist alone wouldn’t cut it — which I believe you have also realized when you started taking those courses.
I think the way forward is to be an “expert-generalist” who can understand the ins and outs of various fields. Fields that are both related and unrelated.
Elon Musk is a great example of that. He’s not the most foremost expert in any of those companies which he built into billion dollar empires but he knows enough and then some to get a conversation going and to rally those people who are the real experts behind him to get those things done.
Damn that dude is awesome.
